Four Directional is the first exercise given to all Tae Kwon-Do students to help develop co-ordination, direction change and breathing control. It is NOT a pattern and is not taught by all ITF Tae Kwon-Do clubs.

1 | Move the right foot to D forming a right “L” stance towards D while executing a middle section front elbow. |
2 | Move the right foot to B forming a right “L” stance towards D while executing a middle section front elbow. |
3 | Move the right foot to C forming a right “L” stance towards D while executing a middle section front elbow. |
4 | Move the right foot to A forming a right “L” stance towards D while executing a middle section front elbow. |
5 | Move right foot back towards D (front) to form parallel ready stance. |
6 | Move the left foot to D forming a left “L” stance towards D while executing a middle section front elbow. |
7 | Move the left foot to A forming a left “L” stance towards D while executing a middle section front elbow. |
8 | Move the left foot to C forming a left “L” stance towards D while executing a middle section front elbow. |
9 | Move the left foot to B forming a left “L” stance towards D while executing a middle section front elbow. |
END | Bring the left foot back to a ready posture. |
