Four Directional Block (Sajo Makgi)

Ready Stance: Parallel Ready Stance (Narani Chunbi Sogi)

Four Directional is the first exercise given to all Tae Kwon-Do students to help develop co-ordination, direction change and breathing control. It is NOT a pattern and is not taught by all ITF Tae Kwon-Do clubs.

Movements:

1 Move the right foot to C forming a left walking stance towards D while executing a low section knifehand block.
2 Move the right foot to D forming a right walking stance towards D while executing a middle section block to D with the right fist.
3 Move the right foot to B forming a left walking stance towards A while executing a low section knifehand block.
4 Move the right foot to A forming a right walking stance towards A while executing a middle section block to A with the right fist.
5 Move the right foot to D forming a left walking stance towards C while executing a low section knifehand block.
6 Move the right foot to C forming a right walking stance towards C while executing a middle section block to C with the right fist.
7 Move the right foot to B forming a left walking stance towards B while executing a low section knifehand block.
8 Move the right foot to B forming a right walking stance towards B while executing a middle section block to B with the right fist.
9 Move right foot back towards D (front) to form parallel ready stance.
10 Move the left foot to C forming a right walking stance towards D while executing a low section knifehand block.
11 Move the right foot to D forming a left walking stance towards D while executing a middle section block to D with the left fist.
12 Move the left foot to B forming a right walking stance towards A while executing a low section knifehand block.
13 Move the right foot to A forming a left walking stance towards A while executing a middle section block to A with the left fist.
14 Move the left foot to D forming a right walking stance towards C while executing a low section knifehand block.
15 Move the right foot to C forming a left walking stance towards C while executing a middle section block to C with the left fist.
16 Move the left foot to A forming a right walking stance towards B while executing a low section knifehand block.
17 Move the right foot to B forming a left walking stance towards B while executing a middle section block to B with the left fist.
END Bring the left foot back to a ready posture.
